Week of September 24th

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to write a quick note about all the things going on this week!  As you know,  each student received their first reading log.  Typically, this will be handed out each Friday and is due back the following Friday.  So, this week's log will be due Friday, September 28th.  Students are expected to read 20 minutes a night (so this week it should be a total of 80 minutes).  Please see my handout on the expectations, but if you have any further questions please feel free to contact me.

Secondly, we have another holiday this week so there is no school Wednesday!

I will sadly not be at JFK on Thursday or Friday due to training.  I will still be available via email if you should have any questions or concerns those days.  Luckily we have a fantastic substitute coming in both days, so I think it will be a great two days!

Lastly, we are having our first unit math test on Friday.  Thursday's math class and homework will be centered around practicing the unit skills and learning how to study for the test.  A practice test will be sent home so that you can see what type of questions will be on it.  We will start unit 2 on Monday, October 1st.  There is a unit 1 link under "Math Links" on the right hand side of this page where you can find helpful links to skills learned in unit 1.

Keep practicing on Xtramath.org!  It's wonderful to start seeing people not only progressing in their skills, but even mastering all the addition facts!  Keep up the hard work!  I am so proud of the class!
