The sound projects came out so well! We will be finishing up our presentations of the projects today and possibly tomorrow.
On Friday, I sent home the light test study guide. The test is scheduled for Tuesday, February 14th. We will be finishing the light unit by Friday, but I want you to have the study guide in advance. In case you lost (or didn't receive) the study guide I have typed it below:
Please review the light packet and this study guide to be prepared for the test.
Light is a form of energy.
Light travels at about 186,000 miles per second.
Our primary source of light is the sun.
Under normal conditions, light travels in a straight line.
When we stare at something for a long time and then look away we see an after-image.
When white light is refracted, we can see all the colors of the rainbow. This sudden change in the direction of a light beam is called refraction.
Know what each of the parts of the eye are used for.
Objects can be described as transparent, translucent, or opague. Transparent material allows light to pass through easily (no shadow). Translucent materials scatter the light as it is passed through (light gray shadow). Opague materials block or absorb all light (dark shadow).
Be able to label a diagram with the following parts of the eye: lens, blood vessels, optic nerve, retina, cornea, iris, sclera, and pupil.
Be able to choose three objects: one transparent, one translucent, and one opaque. You will also have to explain why they are transparent, translucent, and opaque.
Know the acronym we use to remember the colors of a rainbow: ROY G BIV and know what each letter stands for (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet).
