Hello! As we are about to head out on our February vacation, I wanted to remind everyone of the Massachusetts Scavenger Hunt Scrapbook Project. It is due June 1st, which is less than 4 months away. If you've lost the letter that went home in October, I have posted it below:
Dear Third Graders,
Massachusetts is the central theme to this exciting, hands-on project. As you continue your journey through third grade learning everything you can about Massachusetts, your assignment is to collect specific items and display them proudly in a scrapbook. Each item has a designated point value. Your goal is to try to score at least 100 points. Some of the items are easy to locate and others may require a little extra effort.
Scrapbook creativity and neatness is very important. Each item should be clearly and neatly labeled in the scrapbook. Please organize your scrapbook in the order the items are listed on the rubric. You may consider using a 3-ring binder or scrapbook for this project. This is a project that will require you to plan ahead. You will need to gather some basic art materials to begin. Decide what items you may already have that you could place in your scrapbook now and begin to organize all your materials. We realize there are many other wonderful places to visit in Massachusetts. You are welcome to include other items in addition to those listed, however, students will be graded on only those items listed on the rubric.
The goal of this project is to observe the history around us, appreciate the many gifts our state has to offer, and enhance our knowledge of the opportunity to share your project with your classmates, you will have created your very own souvenir of Massachusetts!
Have fun searching and exploring our wonderful state!
Sincerely,
The Third Grade Teachers
